     Bryant Ellis was born on 18 November 1856 at Indiana.2,3 He was the son of Elias Ellis and Matilda Crayden.

Bryant Ellis was enumerated with Elias Ellis as Aliant Ellis on the Census of 20 July 1860 at Morgan Township, Harrison Co., Indiana. He is age 3 and born in Ind.4

Bryant Ellis was enumerated with Elias Ellis as Briand (?) Ellis on the Census of 25 August 1870 at Caldwell Township, Appanoose Co., Iowa. He was listed as male, age 13, and born in Indiana. Hils relationship to Elias and Matilda Ellis was not shown. The spelling of his given name is questionable.5

Bryant Ellis married Nancy H. Gibson on 27 February 1876 at Appanoose Co., Iowa, when he was 19.6,1,3

Bryant Ellis is head of household on the Census of 25 June 1880 at Caldwell Township, Appanoose Co., Iowa, as Briant Ellis. He is a 23 year old white male. He is a farmer and was born in Ind. His father was born in VA, his mother in Ind. Also enumerated were Nancy H. Gibson.7

Millard F. Ellis and Elias Ellis were neighbors on 25 June 1880 at Caldwell Township, Appanoose Co., Iowa.8

Bryant Ellis is head of household on the Census of 15 April 1910 at Caldwell Township, Appanoose Co., Iowa, as Bryant Ellis. He is a white male, age 53 and born in Indiana. He has been married once for 34 years. He is a farmer and owns his mortgaged farm. He can read and write.. Also enumerated were Nancy H. Ellis and Beryl E. Ellis.9

Bryant Ellis died on 27 October 1940 at St. Joseph Hospital, Centerville, Appanoose Co., Iowa, at age 83 years, 11 months and 9 days.6 His funeral was held at Johnson Funeral Home, Centerville, Appanoose Co., Iowa, on 28 October 1940. Rev. W. M. Hartin, pastor of the Exline Methodist Church was in charge of the funeral services.6 He was buried at Oakland Cemetery, Centerville, Appanoose Co., Iowa, on 28 October 1940.6

Charles R. Ellis, Claude A. Ellis and Beryl E. Ellis was/were named as Bryant Ellis's son in Bryant's obituary.6
