     Bradford Ellis was born on 12 March 1811 at Bourbon Co., Kentucky.2,3,1 He was the son of John Ellis and Elizabeth (?).1

Bradford Ellis migrated in 1815 from Kentucky to Harrison Co., Indiana.2

Bradford Ellis married (first) Elizabeth Ellis, daughter of James Ellis and Elizabeth Morrison (?), on 27 December 1832 at Harrison Co., Indiana, when he was 21.1,4

The name of his first wife was Elizabeth Ellis, who died Dec. 4, 1859. On Oct. 14, 1860, he married Mary Sellers, who was born in Dearborn Co., Ind., May 16, 1825; his family consists of twelve children, eight of whom are now living--Martha, Edward, Eliza J., John J., Wesley, William, Nancy and Nelson. Democrat; Religion, Liberal.

Bradford Ellis died on 24 June 1885 at Van Buren Co., Iowa, at age 74 years, 3 months and 12 days.3,1 He was buried at Boston Cemetery, Des Moines Township, Van Buren Co., Iowa, on 25 June 1885.9,3

On 2 July 1885 at Keosauqua, Van Buren Co., Iowa, Bradford Ellis was born in Bourbon county Kentucky, March 12, 1811, and died June 24, 1885, aged 74 years 3 months and 12 days.

He moved from Kentucky with his parents in 1815, to Harrison county Indiana. In 1833, he was married to Elizabeth Ellis, with whom he moved in 1836 to Des Moines township, Van Buren county, Iowa, where he has resided ever since. His wife died in 1859. In 1860 he married Miss Mary Sellers, who with seven of his children are left to mourn his departure. By his first marriage he had 12 children. Father Ellis was a gentleman after the old school; a good neighbor and citizen, sociable at his home, patient in his affliction and hopeful in his death. The funeral service was conducted at his home by Rev. C. W. Shepherd June 25, and his body was followed to the Boston cemetery b a very large procession which evidenced the esteem in which he was held by his neighbors.3


Bradford Ellis was shown as the fatherof James Wesley Ellis on the Death Certificate for James Wesley filed 29 January 1927 at Scotland Co., Missouri.10

              Was born December 7, 1843 near Keosauqua, Ia., and died at the hospital at Mt. Plasant [sic-s/b Pleasant], Iowa, March 18, 1920, being 76 years, 3 months and 11 days old at the time of his death. He was the eldest son of Bradford and Elizabeth Ellis, deceased. Only one brother, Wm. Ellis, near Keosauqua, Ia., remains out of a family of nine children, four girls and five boys.
         He was born and lived on his father's farm until he was united in marriage to Sarah C. Palmer, Feb. 13, 1862. He spent two years in Kansas and then returned to Iowa and located on a farm near Cantril, afterwards moving to his farm near Waneta in 1881, where he resided till he retired from the farm and located in Pulaski in 1901. At this place his wife died in 1904.
         To this union were born eleven children, six of whom are living, Isaac of Rolla, Mo.; William and Osborne of Pulaski, Iowa; Frank and Clifford of Hutchinson, Kan.; and Ernest of Isabelle, Kan.; Mrs. Mary Campbell, Etta, George, Cora and Freeman deceased.
         He was a veteran of the Civil War when he served his country for nearly two years and was honorably discharged at the close of the war.

         William Bradford Ellis was born March 24, 1852, on the old Ellis homestead five miles southwest of Keosauqua, which place was his home during his entire life, and passed away after an illness of ten months, Tuesday, Dec. 20, 1921, aged 69 years, 8 months and 26 days. He was the last of 12 children. His parents, Bradford Ellis and wife, were among the early pioneers of Van Buren county. On November 12, 1874, he was united in marriage to Angeline Drennen. To this union were born six children: a son Archie and daughter Bessie died in infancy, a daughter Minnie lived to brighten their home eighteen years, dying July 1, 1893. He leaves to mourn their loss a loving wife, two daughters, Mrs. Nora Barker of Talona, Mo., Mrs. Lena Daughrity, of Eloris, Iowa and a son Chas.
