Thomas, Tobitha Ellis was born in Harrison County, Indiana, April 28, 1845; came to Iowa early in life; married John Thomas May 23, 1861, and died four miles south of Keosaugua, Iowa July 11, 1893. The last few years of her life had made a remarkable history of affliction, of frequent close approaches to death, and recovery; the patient, cheerful sufferer each time welcoming the seemingly imminent dissolution as release from toil and pain and entrance into larger life. She was converted about 17 years ago, and was a member of the Church. The funeral sermon was preached at Bethel Church, Lebanon circuit, July 13, by her pastor. H. C. Ethell.12
