Nancy Gritton was born on 14 December 1806 at Mercer Co., Kentucky.2,1 She was the daughter of William Gritton and Jenney Jane Lipsey.1
Nancy Gritton married Elias Ellis, son of James Ellis and Elizabeth Morrison (?), on 16 March 1824 at Mercer Co., Kentucky, when she was 17.3,4,5,6
Nancy Ellis was a cograntor with Elias Ellis in the sale of 115 acres of land on Brush and Loglick Creeks adjoining John S. Jones and Peter Demaree at Mercer Co., Kentucky, to John Demaree on 26 September 1835. The deed was witnessed by Austin Cole.7
Nancy Gritton and Elias Ellis resided circa 1836 at Harrison Co., Indiana, The 1850 census shows that his daughter Mary, was born in KY about 1835 and that his son James was born in IN about 1837. This indicates they moved from KY to IN between 1835 and 1837.8
