George William Ashby was enumerated with George Washington Ashby as George W. Ashby on the Census of 7 June 1880 at Wyacondah Township, Davis Co., Iowa. He was listed as a son, age 2, and born in Iowa.8

George William Ashby married Marinda E. Russell, daughter of Riley Russell and Adelaide Thomas, on 6 September 1899 at Appanoose Co., Iowa, when he was 21.1,9,10
