    October 25, 1914 -- 1954 (40 yrs.)
    Ronald W. Ashby, who with his brother Clyde, had operated the Ashby Bakery in South Centerville for several years, died Wednesday evening at 5:25 at the Veterans Hospital in Des Moines. He had been a patient there for nine days prior to his passing. Mr. Ashby was 40 years, two months and 10 days of age and was born in Centerville October 25, 1914, the son of Clyde and Mattie Eddy Ashby. Ronald was a veteran of World War II. He had been active in local business life following his association with his brother in the bakery business. In death he leaves his wife, Louis Mangle Ashby, and a son Rhone, of Huntingburg, Ind. He also leaves his brother Clyde and two sisters, Mrs. Helen Bradley of Centerville, and Mrs. Hellena Hughes of Salem, Mo. funeral services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. from the Johnson Funeral Home with Rev. Thomas Polk officiating and burial will be in the Oakland cemetery. The Ray C. Walden Post of the American Legion of Centerville will conduct rites..
