     John J. Ellis was born say 1848 (probably in Van Buren Co., Iowa).1 He was the son of Bradford Ellis and Elizabeth Ellis.1 John J. Ellis was enumerated as John Ellis on the Census of 11 June 1850. He is listed as age 4 and born in Iowa.3 He was enumerated as John Ellis on the Census of 18 June 1860. He is age 14 and was born in Iowa. He has attended school in the last year.4

John J. Ellis married Sarah J. (?) say 1867 at Van Buren Co., Iowa.5
