Angeline Drennen, daugher of Geo. and Julia Drennen, was born at Mt. Pleasant, Iowa, Sept. 12, 1851. She was one of a family of eight children.
Nov. 12, 1874, she was united in marriage to Wm. Bradford Ellis. To this union six children were born. One daughter, Bessie, and one son, Archie, died in infancy, and one daughter, Minnie, died at age of 18. Most of her life has been lived on a farm near Keosauqua.
Mr. Ellis preceded her in death Dec. 20, 1922. During the past summer, Mrs. Ellis' sister, Mrs. Jennie Smith passed to the life beyond. Due to the strange circumstances of life they had enjoyed a particular bond of sisterly affection. She had always enjoyed good health until the past few years she commenced failing, and she departed this life August 29, 1927, at her home near Keosauqua, age 75 years, 11 months and 14 days.
For years she was a faithful member of the Bethel M. E. church. She passed away firm in that faith in Him who hath brought life and immortality to light, and is worthy to hear the "well done" of her Master.
She was a faithful wife, a loving mother, a sincere neighbor and friend. She was known and loved as grandmother to the entire neighborhood. Revered alike by young and old as far as her circle of acquaintances extended, everyone delighted in her companionship and friendship.
She leaves to mourn their loss two daughters, Mrs. Nora Barker of Douds, and Lena Dell Daughrity of Keosauqua; one son, Charles, who resides on a farm near Cantril; nine grandchildren, and one brother, Samuel Drennen of Linton, Ind., and a host of friends, who knew her and loved her.
Funeral services were held at the Paul Daughrity residence Wednesday, August 31, conducted by Rev. Paul P. Jackson, pastor of the First Congregational church of Keosauqua. Interment at Boston cemetery.
