     Darius Baugh was born on 3 December 1808 at Garrard Co., Kentucky.2 He was the son of Abraham Baugh and Martha Johnson.1 Conflicting evidence states that Darius was born on 3 December 1813.3 Conflicting evidence states that Darius was born at Russell Co., Kentucky, on 3 December 1813.4

Darius Baugh married Sarah Triplett, daughter of William Triplett, on 13 September 1828 at Russell Co., Kentucky, when he was 19.1,5 Conflicting evidence states that Darius Baugh married Sarah Triplett at Cumberland Co., Kentucky, in 1828.6

Abraham Baugh left a will on 25 June 1833 which listed Darius Baugh as his son. In the name of God amen, I, Abram Baugh of Garrard County, State of Kentucky, being in low state of health but of sound mind and memory blessed by God do make and ordain my last Will and Testament as followeth:
First: I give and bequeath to my beloved wife Betsy Baugh all the property she had when we were married, also one gray horse and sorrel filla, two ploughs and one pear of gears, one cow and calf, and one sow and pigs chois, 6 chois head of hogs, six head of sheep, also the stock of fowls, also 1 large Iron Kettle, 1 ten gallon kettle, and 1 small iron kettle, 1 oven, 1 shovel and five dogs, 1 pole ox, weeding hoes, chois, 1 iron wedge, my cuppard furniture and all the ware thereunto belonging, 1 look glass, 1 table and all the chairs and the loom.

Item 2nd my well beloved Betsy Baugh the use of one negro girl, Caleo Mariah, during her life, and at her death to be sold with her increase if any to the best bid in one record of twelve months, and third part of her amount of said sail I give and bequeath unto my said wife to do of as she may think proper, also I lend her my negro man named Lewis during her life and at her death to be free to act and do for himself. The other two thirds of the aforesaid Sail I desire to be equally divided between Martha Ellis, late Martha Baugh, and Amasa Baugh to
them their heirs and assigns forever. I also give my son Amasa Baugh my Flax Hackle and 1 ten gallon kettle to be kept by his step mother till he arrives to the age of 21 years old, also my home and shiving tools whenever he is old enough to use them. I also give my son Amasa Baugh one bay mare with colt and it is my desire that he is to stay with his step mother and go to school and that she board and clothe him while going to school and for him to aid and assist at all times when not at school and at the end of the year to be put to any good trade he may choose to go to (a shoemaker excepted) and when he leaves his step mother to go to his trade the mare or colt whichever they may think most advantageous to be sold for his benefit and the other to be kept by her for him till he gets his trade or becomes of age.

Then I give and bequeath my son Elisha P. Baugh my watch to him and his heirs and assigns forever.

Item. I give and bequeath to my son Darius Baugh, my Rifle gun and all that to belonging to go with her to him his heirs and assigns forever.

Item. To each of my children not before mentioned (to-wit) William J. Baugh, Jesse J. Baugh, Rowena Levridge, Abraham G. Baugh and Marcellus Baugh one dollar each for ever and their heirs.

Lastly, I appoint Garland Bank, James Patterson my whole and sole Executors of this my last Will and testament hereby involving all wills by me made and that these executors sell all the balance of my Estate not herein specially given away and after paying all expenses the balance to be applied to the schooling of Amasa and his benefit in testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 25th say of June 1833.

Darius Baugh was listed as the head of household as Darius Baugh on the 1880 Census recorded 21 June 1880 at Elm Township, Putnam Co., Missouri. The official date of this census was 1 Jun 1880. He is listed as age 72 and a farmer. He was born in KY. Also living in the household were his wife, Sarah Baugh.11

Darius Baugh died on 15 February 1885 at Putnam Co, Missouri, at age 76; Tombstone inscribed "BAUGH, Darius died 15 Feb 1885, aged 71y, 2m, 12 d."1,3,12 He was buried at Baugh Cemetery, Putnam Co., Missouri; The citation source notes the following: "wife and several children buried beside him--grave markers lost."3


Darius Baugh was shown as the father of Caroline Dickerson on the Death Certificate for Caroline filed 6 June 1933 at Unionville, Putnam Co., Missouri.13
